How to install MTC-Vodafone eGO (Huawei E220) device on Windows Vista
Note: You may risk damaging your device permanently if you do not follow the instructions as stated below.
- Make sure your laptop is fully charged/plugged to power source BEFORE continuing to the next step.
- DO NOT remove the USB device while installing the updates.
- Plug in your USB eGO device (Huawei E220) on to your PC.
- Download and install this update. This would update your eGO device to allow Vista to update the firmware. (run Datacard update.exe and click patch, wait for more instructions)
- Its time to update the firmware of the device, this allows Vista to recognize it. Download this and follow the instructions.
- Now you have to update the software to the latest version to fix some bugs and enable SMS/PIN support. Download this and follow the instructions.
- After installing, you have to manually edit the settings to work with your mobile operator. For MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain) users, Goto Settings-->APN, then select manual and enter "hsdpa" for all three APN, UserId, and Password. Save the settings, and connect.
Note: The steps above did work for me and were originally taken from Mobile Connected. This is provided as-is and I can take no responsibility whatsoever for the utilities above.
