![]() The new ipods shown above have now been officially announced, they are to be shipped in the next couple of weeks. Basically, the iPod nano and classic has been completely redesigned, and they added a new iPod called the iPod touch (basically a stripped down iPhone) to the line. iPod nano It has a 2″, 320×240-pixel screen, at an impressive 204 pixels per inch, that’s a dense screen. Its interface is similar to the iPhone, but it also got some games. The base model is 4GB and is priced at $149, it comes in silver. The 8GB model will be $199 and come in a collection of colors. iPod classicThere are two models, the basic form factor is the same, at $249 for the 80GB model and $360 for the 160GB. iPod touch The 3.5-inch widescreen display iPod touch should be available in a few weeks, the Touch comes in 8GB and 16GB configurations, and is basically a phoneless iPhone. Same basic form factor, same motion-sensing screen turning, same multitouch, same Coverflow browsing, same WiFi, and same Safari. Yah, the amazing mobile Web implementation that Apple brought to the iPhone without signing up for AT&T. But the WiFi’s not just for Web browsing. You also get the iPhone’s YouTube playback. You also get a wireless iTunes music store. Find a hotspot, find your song, and buy it, just as you would through your desktop iTunes. As Steve Jobs said, “Apple’s going to do with WiFi what others have failed to do.” If you are as confused as I am, you might want to visit this page by apple to compare all the available iPods.
