Default $3.5bn Bahrain Centre of Excellence planned

Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) and MCC Project Partners (MCCPP) have announced a joint venture to develop the Bahrain Centre of Excellence, an independently funded $3.5 billion world-class centre of innovation in the automotive engineering, motorsport and alternative energy sectors.
The centre is designed by internationally acclaimed architect Zaha Hadid.
The Bahrain Centre of Excellence will develop new, globally-focused businesses with substantial job opportunities at a purpose-built site on land adjacent to the Bahrain International Circuit.
The venue is renowned world-wide as home to the Kingdom of Bahrain's round of the FIA Formula One World Championship, the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.
Talal al Zain, chairman of the Bahrain International Circuit, regards this latest announcement as a crucial element in Bahrain's continuing development of its economy with an integrated, high-technology engineering and manufacturing sector.
'I am delighted that Bahrain will be developing this campus with MCCPP to create profitable business opportunities and enhance BIC's reputation for excellence.'
The business plan for the Bahrain Centre of Excellence has been developed and will be executed by MCCPP, a global business developer/operator with extensive experience in real estate, hospitality, automotive, innovative technology, alternative energy, education and sports and leisure.
Zaha Hadid, the celebrated architect, has worked with MCCPP to design the architectural master plan. The signature buildings for the dynamic development have been designed to provide over 800,000 sq m of commercial mixed-use facilities on the site including: an automotive cluster, a technology and innovation park and an integrated university campus.
As the first woman to have won the Pritzker Architecture Prize, the most prestigious award in her field, Hadid's previous projects include the BMW Central Building in Leipzig.
The new development adjacent to the BIC is designed to attract high-performance automotive manufacturers and innovative engineering companies to Bahrain. Such companies will have the opportunity to accelerate their product development in an environment that offers world-class engineering/testing resources, state-of-the-art corporate and business facilities as well as an on-site, higher education teaching faculty.
The initial core businesses will offer thousands of job opportunities at all levels from senior management through to trainees, aligned with its training programmes and educational facilities.
