"The Etisl adapter will allow you to carry your Etisalcom number anywhere in the world, whilst maintaining a local Bahraini number," Etisalcom managing director Samir Nooruddin told the GDN.
"Any calls made to your number can be answered anywhere in the world where you have set the device, all while you are being charged local Bahraini rates."
The service has been launched as a pre-paid system, with limited free minutes packages pricing ranging from BD5-20, and unlimited free minutes packages pricing ranging from BD30-100.
Calls to numbers on Batelco networks will cost seven fils per minute, calls to Batelco mobile networks will cost 14 fils and calls to MTC-Vodafone networks will cost 18 fils.
Calls between the Etisl network itself will be free of charge, from any two points in the network. However, with the limited minutes packages there will be a maximum limit on the Etisl service.
"We are holding a promotion until the end of the month where subscribers will receive the adapter and kit free," Etisalcom's chief executive Rashid Al Snan said.
"Etisalcom believes in providing telecom products and services that underline our key message, that is, 'wherever, together'. And towards this end, our new service fulfils this objective," Al Snan added.
