THOUSANDS of motorsport fans and car lovers are expected to attend the Ithmaar Group Yalla Bahrain! Street Carnival taking place this Friday.
The Street Carnival will include a parade showcasing a number of the cars that will feature at the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2007 taking place at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) on April 13, 14 and 15. The parade, which begins at 4pm on December 16 Highway in Isa Town, will also include performances by stuntmen and music by a local DJ. Motorbike stunt maestro Kevin Carmichael will perform at the event along with aerial ballet stunt performers the Paramotors. Fans will also be treated to a cavalcade of high performance cars and bikes including Adventure Drive Arabia off-road machinery and a static Toyota Formula One car on a special float. Cars competing in the upcoming Chevrolet National Drag Racing Championship will also make their first appearance. The second wave of the parade will see cars from the Porsche Super Cup and Lumina CSV championship enthral spectators. Porsche Mobil 1 Super Cup cars, which form part of the support schedule for the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, will also feature at the Street Carnival. Another performance by the Paramotors and Kevin Carmichael will conclude the motorised displays and a spectacular fireworks display will end the parade. "Last year an incredible 20,000 people came to see the street parade and firework display, which is still a talking point throughout the Formula One world," organisers said yesterday. A DJ will entertain the crowd and keep them informed about the cars that are driving up. The event is free of charge and parking will be available at the National Stadium. The agreement was co-signed by Bapco Chief Executive Dr Mustafa Al Sayed and BIC Chief Executive Martin Whitaker at a ceremony held at Al Dar in Awali. "With the signing of the new contract, Bapco has underlined its unremitting efforts to foster the image of Bahrain at various sporting arenas domestically, regionally and globally," said Dr Al Sayed. source: GDN |
